North Carolina Insurance Commissioner Wayne Goodwin announced the arrest
of Peter Dane Koke of Wilmington; he is charged with one count each of
insurance fraud, attempting to obtain property by false pretense and
providing false information on an insurance application.
North Carolina Department of Insurance criminal investigators accuse Koke of providing false information to NationalGeneral Insurance
Company on Aug. 13, 2015, when claiming his vehicle was stolen. Koke is
accused of falsely claiming he repaired damage to his vehicle from an
accident on July 3, 2015, in an attempt to receive a higher payment.
Investigators allege Koke made a fraudulent statement claiming he did
not have felony convictions within the past 10 years on an insurance application on Aug. 7, 2015.
Koke was arrested in New Hanover County on Oct. 19 and placed under a $50,000 bond.
NCDOI employs 20 sworn state law enforcement officers dedicated to investigating and prosecuting claims of insurance andbail bonding fraud.
